Super premium Italian beer Peroni Nastro Azzurro is launching its first-ever flagship bar in Dubai at InterContinental Dubai Marina. REX Bar, the new rooftop destination, officially opens its doors next month at the elegant five-star hotel, bringing true Italian style to Dubai Marina. The new venue, which will run for a limited winter season, will offer sweeping views across the Arabian Gulf, accompanied by refreshing Peroni Nastro Azzurro beer and laid-back aperitivo dishes.
The REX bar pays homage to the Italian ocean liner SS Rex that in 1933 won the ‘Blue Riband’ for the fastest crossing of the Atlantic, winning with effortless Italian passion and flair.The SS Rex became the inspiration behind the creation of Peroni Nastro Azzurro itself; and now, the inspiration behind the new flagship rooftop, which has been designed to make visitors feel as if they have boarded the luxury ocean liner. As the sea-breeze gently blows and the lights of Dubai Marina glitter beneath, guests will be transported to a modern reinterpretation of the original ocean liner. Onboard the original SS REX, there were marble bathrooms, swimming pools and, to the delight of its guests, sand from the Italian seashore on the promenade deck; all of which transcends directly into the design elements of the venue.
During the exclusive six month opening, Peroni Nastro Azzurro will host the 19:33 @ REX cultural event series, inviting experts across the fields of design, food, travel and fashion to discuss and unlock hidden nuances of Dubai, forging a guide for the city’s style seekers to live every moment in one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities.

DESIGN
Andrea Morgante represents the epitome of Italian excellence in architecture and design. His London-based winning architecture practice was established in 2009 with an international reputation for delivering innovative projects that span the disciplines of architecture, art, product design and temporary installations. REX Bar represents a new chapter in a collaboration spanning nearly a decade. Andrea Morgante first collaborated with Peroni Nastro Azzurro to create the House of Peroni. Since then, Andrea collaborated with Peroni Nastro Azzurro delivering Art Direction, one-off pieces, product design, immersive installations and temporary architecture.
Andrea has now bought to life the brand story and brand DNA through re-imaging the historic voyage and delivering the REX Bar experience.
SERVICE
One of the most talked about bartenders of the moment, Simone Caporale is internationally renowned for his distinctive personal style, service and innovation, which includes an impeccable attention to detail, playful presentation and exceptional approach to hospitality. Originally from Como in Italy, Simone rose to fame during his five years at Artesian at The Langham, London where he is credited for re-inventing the five-star hotel bar experience and leading the venue to win the title of World’s Best Bar four years in a row (2012 – 2015).
Having been awarded numerous accolades of his own, including International Bartender of the Year 2014 at the prestigious Spirited Awards, Simone was the natural choice to be selected as Global Brand Ambassador for Peroni Nastro Azzurro. For the launch of REX, Simone has creative a bespoke REX Peroni Nastro Azzurro serve which is inspired by the ‘at sea’ SS REX experience.
FOOD
Peroni Nastro Azzurro has partnered with two young chefs at the cutting edge of culinary excellence, Isabella Potì and Floriano Pellegrino from Michelin-starred restaurant Bros’ in Lecce, Puglia. The chefs have designed an exclusive three-course menu, a modern reinterpretation of the story of the luxurious SS Rex. Their inspiration: the sea and the ocean liner itself with a twist of unique, imaginative and unusual ingredients. To give a taste, there will be linguine with pistachio and fresh anchovy, in the shape of a playful wave representing the emblematic Nastro Azzurro.
FASHION
The REX Bar uniforms come from the studio of Kyle Lo Monaco. The London-based designer, whose father hails from Sicily, marries personal heritage and a curiosity for tradition with a contemporary affection to create pieces with a romantic yet strong and bold aesthetic. For REX Bar, Kyle’s inspiration comes from 1960’s Italian tailoring, reimagined for a 2021 audience. Effortlessly cool, playful, smart unisex pieces inspired by the SS Rex nautical designs. For the shirt, there’s a playful blue ribbon detail that continues across front and back in reference to the iconic Nastro Azzurro.
