From The Streets Of Bangkok To The Backyard

Dubai has a seriously diverse food scene, and is home to almost every popular cuisine in the world, so it is natural that people have acquired a more adventurous and sophisticated palette. Recently heralded as the number 1 ‘foody city’ Bangkok, the team at Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay couldn’t resist the opportunity to bring in the best of this gourmet wonderland to Dubai’s already bubbling flavour pot!

Décor-wise, The Backyard could easily be found down a Bangkok ‘soi’ and is the perfect canvas for the colourful vibe of Thailand’s street food, with a deliciously crafted menu from an immensely creative and talented Chef.

Born and raised in Thailand, Chef Anan Tumya began his culinary journey with food art and sculpting, and continued his journey adding insanely delicious flavours to his art. Being daring with the taste is Anan’s biggest strength, and on many occasions diners have been overheard saying that they have never come across such unique combinations anywhere in Thailand.

Starting his career in Thailand in 2003, Anan’s skills and quietly vivacious personality took him overseas to Malaysia, China, Goa, India, Muscat, The Maldives and finally Dubai. In fifteen years, Anan has won hearts and raked in a host of awards and accolades, including the recent Platinum and Diamond Award at ‘The Art of Thai Culinary 2017’ and a special acknowledgment from the Royal Thai Consulate-General Dubai. One of his numerous recent achievements has been the opening of Wise Kwai Restaurant in Dubai. Within just a few months, he brought it to the coveted Number #1 spot on TripAdvisor for best Thai restaurant in Dubai, beating 9,101 others.
