New Peruvian-Japanese Rooftop Restaurant Makes Its Way To Dubai With Issei

Fresh Peruvian-Japanese flavors are set to make waves in the city as the Radisson Hotel Group opens “nikkei” restaurant, Issei Dubai on the 27th floor of the Radisson Hotel DAMAC Hills.

Majestic views of the golfing greens and excitingly colorful dishes await guests at Issei, an original concept created by the Radisson Hotel Group. The brand, which has other locations across Europe including Copenhagen, Stockholm and Tallinn, have already enjoyed tremendous acclaim and attracted many patrons.

With chefs flying in from Peru to lead the kitchen, diners will surely be delighted to experience the confluence of flavour combinations on the menu. Delightful surprises on familiar favorites abound like the yakitori skewers mix served with antichuchera or lime mayo, salmon tataki with jalapeño, chili and papaya or crispy octopus with a roccoto-chilli sauce, broccolini and aji verde. Fry lovers would surely enjoy a nibble of the Yuca fries, which are spiced with togarashi.

Apart from an excellently curated menu of signature nikkei dishes, guests of Issei should not miss the equally inventive cocktails. One special drink that is definitely a must-try is Issei’s very own take on the Pisco Sour, a traditional Peruvian tipple made from grapes and produced exclusively in copper vessels. Smooth, potent, and invigorating, it’s a warm embrace in a glass that’s perfect for guests to experience with the exquisite view of the golf course on one side and Dubai skyline on the other.  Otherwise, those looking for the perfect “nikkei” experience should certainly try the Matcha Sour – a real blend of Peruvian and Japanese ingredients consisting of dry tannins from drawn green tea, mixed with Japanese gin and bergamot, balanced with lemon juice, and then shaken ice cold with egg white to add texture.

That combined energy of land and sea is evident not only in the food but in the restaurant’s design – a convergence of colors and styles that is both vibrant and harmonious. The story begins from the three vivid columns with large, abstract and colourful Nazca Lines in neon that beckons guests from afar. They are then welcomed by the bold Instagram wall with memorable neon light “Let’s get Pisco’d.”

The story continues with the glass display cabinets decorated with handpicked Japanese ceramics and Peruvian décor pieces like the famous good luck bulls, “Torito de Pucara” that are found in traditional Peruvian homes, a symbol of good fortune and protection. All décor and art pieces were handmade by artisans and especially curated by UAE-based interior design company, Urban Nest.

“We are thrilled to bring yet another fantastic concept for our guests to enjoy here at the Radisson Hotel DAMAC Hills. We have the continuous support of DAMAC to thank for in being able to successfully launch Issei here in Dubai and get the restaurant ready over the summer months. Our breathtaking rooftop setting combined with the flavours of Issei, which have already proven successful in Europe, will surely become another experience to explore for food & drink aficionados in the city. We cannot wait for Issei to be a local hotspot not only for the residents of DAMAC Hills and DAMAC Lagoons, but a culinary destination for UAE expats and tourists,” said Sid Sattanathan, General Manager of Radisson DAMAC Hills.

A true success story of flourishing where you land, Issei is set to weave a new chapter of its culinary tale here in Dubai.
