Comfortably nestled in one of Dubai’s popular food hubs, Oud Metha, family-run Moreish is redefining the purpose of food and the dynamics of running a business.
Conceptualized by Kishore, Vanita and Bhavika Bhatia, Moreish boasts an eclectically innovative, home-style cooked menu adorned with ‘food that loves you back’, all while challenging stereotypical vegan and vegetarian menus in the UAE.
Rebranded from a fast-food café in May 2018, the Bhatia family seized the opportunity to fulfil a dream of cooking, feeding and serenading beyond the four walls of their beloved home, introducing an alfresco-styled European/Continental eatery that celebrates food, family and community.
From waffles, scrambles and pancakes to gourmet burgers, nachos, polenta steaks, Mediterranean stews, pasta and risotto, Moreish’s flavourful and comforting menu is the tried-tested-and-loved culinary journey of Creative Head, Bhavika Bhatia’s thought process. The menu prides itself on using quality ingredients and produce in each dish. “We take care to use the freshest and best of ingredients,” states Bhavika, an ardent acquirer of novelty cookbooks. “Our policy is that if an ingredient is not something we would use in our own home, we would not be using it in the Moreish kitchen either.”
Moreish is also home to eggless and gelatin-free classic desserts such as the Lotus Crème Brûlée and a nostalgic Parle-G Tiramisù.
Fostering a charming and cozy ambience with blue checkered tablecloths, brick accents and a standout blue wall decorated by photos of chefs that have inspired the family, Moreish seats 22 indoor and 25 outdoor, promoting an intimate dining experience, just as you would enjoy at home.
Family-run in the most literal sense, the Bhatia family are actively involved in the day-to-day running of Moreish, whether it is curating and testing dishes or serving tables and stirring up conversations with the aim to connect over a love for food.
Encouraging connections and building bonds over delicious meals, Moreish also serves as a hub for community-focused events. The restaurant is home to community activation, ‘Dine and Joy’, a monthly pop-up evening where strangers from any and every age, group, gender, nationality and profession share a dinner table to interact with food and people out of their comfort zone. “This initiative aims to bring back the warmth and inclusivity that social dining has now seen a decline in, and to remind people that they are not alone in this city that never seems to slow down,” adds Bhavika. “We highly value the importance and privilege of being part of a community so that we can give back. We do our best to initiate and execute creative ways to make people feel like they are part of something much bigger than just diners at a restaurant.”
Moreish is open to the public every day from 11:30AM to 12:00AM and is located on the Ground Floor of Al Ahli Building, Street 8, Behind Roda Links Hotel, Oud Metha, Dubai.
