Dubai’s ultra-luxe cocktail lounge, Galaxy Bar, is hosting an opulent evening to honour the world’s premier cocktail industry event, Tales of the Cocktail. For one night only (Monday 20th September), guests will be transported to the vibrant city of New Orleans to experience ‘Galaxy Tales’. The night promises to be one to remember, with guests enjoying five handcrafted cocktails and a selection of New Orleans inspired, indulgent canapés, whilst listening to the soulful sounds of jazz singer Andrea Flórez.
Each cocktail will be presented with an anecdote specific to the serve. Highlights include the Vieux Carré, a spirit-forward blend of rye whiskey, cognac, Bénédictine, sweet vermouth and bitters. The cocktail was invented in the late 1930s by Walter Bergeron, the head bartender at what would become the famous Carousel Bar inside the Hotel Monteleone. The bar was a popular haunt for famed authors Ernest Hemingway and Truman Capote.
Classic cocktail the Sazerac, was invented in New Orleans in the mid-1800s. Created by Antoine Amédée Peychaud, an apothecary best known for his blend of aromatic bitters. It was originally made with cognac, but due to the phylloxera outbreak in the 1860s, rye whiskey replaced it as the spirit of choice.
Sitting under Galaxy Bar’s starry sky, guests will be invited to recollect and submit a personal tale of their own, with the favourite narrative receiving a complimentary dinner for two at Avli by tashas.
Galaxy Bar’s Galaxy Tales event will take place on Monday 20th September, 8.00pm – 12.00am
The experience includes five cocktails* and a selection of canapés, priced at Dhs395 per person.
