It’s almost time to ring in 2022 and what better place to be than downtown Dubai? Ensuring your New Year goes off with a bang, that is being able to watch the fireworks from its terrace on the boulevard, Taikun has been transformed. Inspired by Miami Vice, the infamous television drama from the 1980s, get set for a night of corruption and cabaret.
From 9:30pm till late, dine on sumptuous dishes, revel in showstopping entertainment and make merry in the presence of criminals, cops and people that are just looking for a good time. Begin your festivities by making an entrance. Saunter through its front doors and take a moment to pose under its signature chandeliers for a picture. Reserve a seat inside the restaurant and lounge to be close to the stage, or choose the terrace, where city lights frame its lush greenery. Sitting under the shadow of the Burj Khalifa, Taikun makes for a unique spot to view the fireworks that will light up the evening.
To the sound of iconic 80s music, the evening will ensue and with it Taikuns world-class entertainment. Don’t just keep your eye on the heavy red curtains for its legendary performers. The drama and cabaret will be all around you. Just like the TV show, expect stake-outs and bust-ups and even some romance and possibly redemption along the way. The energy will be high and the party even more so.
Join in the action and look the part with a dress code that calls for eye-catching ensembles. For the ladies, it’s all about excess. Sequin dresses, shoulder pads and oversized jewellery are just your starting point. When it comes to beauty, the bigger, the better. Think a blowout Tina Turner would be proud of, finished with a glossy red pout. For men, this isn’t the time to shy away from pastel shades. Embrace pops of pinks and baby blues, yellows and even a coral hue or two. Suit up or look to a satin shirt, a flash of chest and Versace esque print mandatory.
Delve into a feast of Japanese cuisine as food is served a la carte, perfect for sharing with your table. Caviar and oysters are at the top of the list, with the signature Taikun Assorted Sushi Platter showing off the finest maki rolls, nigiri and sashimi the chef has to offer. Can’t get enough sushi? Then the Golden Dragon roll is a must-try, featuring prawn tempura, salmon, tenkatsu, royal oscietra caviar, Japanese mayo and 24k gold dust and leaves.
Cooked over hot charcoal, the robata offers up both a Wagyu Striploin A5 grade and a Wagyu Ribeye A7, both from Kagoshima Japan. There’s also plenty of fish options including a Roasted Whole Lobster and Aromatic Sea Bass Papillote. Vegetarians are also well taken care of with Burrata dressed in a miso chimichurri, Kappa Maki and Mushroom Noodles just a few favourites from the list. Before the stroke of midnight make sure to also select a few desserts including the infamous Matcha Fondant or a Dessert Platter to share. Just make sure your cameras at the ready.
Join the revelry at Taikun on Friday 31st December from 9:30pm to 3am.
Minimum spend AED 999 per person.
