Khaymat Al Bahar, the authentic family-style Lebanese dining destination at Jumeirah Al Qasr, is embracing the spirit of Ramadan with a bespoke beach-side setting Iftar experience that aims to give back to the community through a partnership with Dubai-based Al Jalila Foundation.
Curated by the newly-appointed Head Chef Ali Fouad – the award-winning chef behind Al Nafoorah, which was named Best Lebanese Restaurant in 2016, 2017 and 2018 – the all-new Iftar buffet promises diners an authentic Lebanese Iftar experience, with a percentage of each booking pledged to the charity’s ‘basma’ Ramadan initiative.
Chef Ali’s inspiring spread of cuisine, which hails from across the Middle East, India, Asia and Europe, connects different traditions and cuisines in one impressive setting. Guests can break their fast with a selection of drinks including Butter Milk, Jallab and Kamar El Din served alongside dates, apricots and figs, followed by a selection of hearty soups and traditional mezze served hot and cold.
“We are offering seven rotating menus across with a spread of more than 18 starters, nine main courses and numerous desserts,” said Chef Ali Fouad. “Guests can expect a selection of traditional Lebanese staples with several live cooking stations serving up popular dishes like lamb ouzi and kunafa.”
While Khaymat Al Bahar promises to cater to different dietary requirements, guests fasting are being urged to break their fast by eating in moderation and gradually.
“Once you’ve had water and a few dates or figs, I recommend the lentil soup as the perfect dish to start your Iftar meal – it is easy on an empty stomach and prepares the body for the large meal to follow,” said Chef Ali.
Main courses being rotated during Ramadan include Kofta bel Seney (minced lamb dish), mixed grill and Djej Bil Senyeh (baked garlic chicken with potatoes), while international palates can sample baked salmon, vegetable Thai green curry, shrimp masala and baked mushroom pasta.
Priced at AED195 including beverages, the Khaymat Al Bahar Ramadan Iftar buffet includes a dessert station comprising Arabic favourites such as Um Ali (a traditional Arab dessert, popular during Ramadan) and rice pudding, as well as assorted Arabic sweets and a selection of French pastries and fresh fruits.
Boasting unparalleled views of the Burj al Arab and the Arabian Gulf, guests at Khaymat Al Bahar can relax amongst Arabian tent-inspired décor while relaxing to the soothing background music of live Oud. With Ramadan a time for giving, diners can also purchase homemade sweets in gift boxes for family and friends.
Khaymat Al Bahar’s Ramadan Iftar buffet is available daily from 6:30-10pm, with an à la carte menu served for breakfast from 6:30-11:30am and lunch from 1-4pm. For reservations, contact 800-666-353 or jrgreservations@jumeirah.com
