Avli by tashas is officially launching its monthly Wine Pairing Night series, commencing on Wednesday, 25th October! From 8 pm onwards, the inaugural evening, “A Journey Around the Cycladic Islands,” promises to transport guests on a sensory voyage through the enchanting cuisine of the Cyclades.
Head Chef Vlassia Anagnostou commented on the launch, “This was a long time in the works, working together with the Avli team to make sure we got the food and the winemakers perfectly matched. We designed this series to thoroughly explore the diverse cuisine of Greece and delve into the country’s rich winemaking history here at Avli.”
This monthly activation series is centered around the authentic Greek experience. October’s evening shines a spotlight on Cycladic cuisine, featuring quintessential Greek ingredients and dishes such as homemade caper salt, kumquat glyko, and an array of Mezedes for sharing. The menu has been thoughtfully curated to celebrate beloved recipes from the Cycladic islands, creating a memorable dining experience from the first to the final dish.
Guests will be eagerly guided through an awe-inspiring selection of dishes that are sure to excite the most discerning palates. The menu for the evening begins with an amuse-bouche Ladenia with Gavro from Kimolos, which is a homemade oven-baked flatbread with tomatoes, onion, oregano, olives, and anchovy. The tasting journey from one Cycladic island to another continues with mezedes for sharing and mains including Fava from Sxinousa, Saganaki from Syros, Red Mullet from Paros, and Mastelo with Revithada from Sifnos, which is a slow-cooked lamb in vine leaves, grapes, petimezi and oven roasted chickpeas. These carefully crafted creations weave together a cohesive story of the Cyclades Islands.
Desserts pay homage to classic wine and grape pairings, offering guests the timeless combination of Wine and Grapes and a modernised White Chocolate Mousse, Verjus gel, fresh grapes, grape granita, and white wine reduction.
The partnering winery for the night, Alpha Estate is located in the northwest part of Greece, Amyndeon in the Florina region. Owner and experienced chemist-oenologist Angelos Latridis will be hosting the night alongside Avli’s expert sommeliers. The vineyard’s most remarkable value lies in the ‘soul’ of the people who hold a profound respect for nature and are committed to high-quality and eco-friendly growing practices of sustainable viticulture and winemaking.
The mood for the night will be set with live music by Nikolas Papakonstantinou creating a feast for the senses through music, wine, aromas, and the ambiance. This harmony allows guests to immerse themselves in Greek culture.
Priced at AED 595 per person, these exclusive wine-pairing evenings will become a monthly tradition with varying themes starting from 25th October 2023.
