Marjon Andesha is a lady with a passion for food. After moving to Abu Dhabi from California in 2004 where she spent her formative years, she began to consider creating cuisine that reflected her upbringing but also her Afghani roots. The concept came to being when she saw that while there were many franchises from abroad, a home-grown brand was missing. Rather than attempt to fuse Californian and Afghani fare, she instead takes the very best of both worlds and presents them as her own unique creations.
In Abu Dhabi, where she has been firmly established since 2011 and enjoyed royal patronage, Andesha has conceived of Nolu’s Khalidiya, Nolu’s Al Bandar, Raw by Nolu’s at Al Seef Hotel and, of course, Nolu’s Downtown at Galleria Mall.
She is currently also opening in Dubai in partnership with Fitz n Glam as well as three other locations. Her flagship venue will be in Al Quoz, where participants will be able to enjoy handmade healthy treats alongside a range of delicious, tasty organic dishes, an experience that will certainly be unforgettable. Sports Society in Mirdif and Dubai Hills Mall are also in the pipeline. She tells us she is excited to be opening in Dubai at last and can’t wait to greet guests in her four new venues.
Nolu’s is where California cool meets the smoky flavours of Afghani cuisine, from crunchy, fresh-as-the-morning salads and healthful bowls to traditional kabobs and time-honoured Afghani dishes prepared by both American and Afghani masters in their kitchens. A wild and unique blend of healthy Californian and traditional Afghani cooking, with chefs working in tandem to create spectacular dishes is what has been created here.

The cuisine is Afghan, American and healthy. Perfectly calibrated for taste, flavour and well-being, the healthy bowls bring a dash of Californian flair to the UAE, while the Afghan dishes exude warmth, evocative aromas and perhaps a longing for home cooking, no matter which part of the world you call home. Casual and approachable, Nolu’s are great fans of home cooking done properly so from healthy bowls to traditional kabobs, guests will find a mix of the contemporary and the traditional. As close to comfort food as you can get while still remaining on the ‘healthy’ side and remarkably delicious.
