COYA Launches COYA 1615 Macerado, The World’s First Bottled, Passion Fruit-Flavoured Pisco Infusion

COYA, the original immersive Peruvian experience, is thrilled to introduce the world to COYA 1615 Macerado, the world’s first bottled, passion fruit-flavoured macerado infusion. Created in collaboration with 1615 Pisco distillery, the global brand’s long-time distillery partner based in Lima, Peru, COYA’s debut bottled macerado blend will launch in August 2023.

COYA 1615 Macerado reflects Peru’s position as the world’s no.1 exporter of maracuya, or passion fruit as it is more commonly known. A core part of Peru’s fascinating history and enchanting culinary heritage, passionfruit is a native to the lush, wild and unspoilt Amazon region of the country. Available in vibrant yellow and purple varieties, the sweet, tasty and delicious Peruvian passion fruit is traditionally used by the cosy bars of Lima to make refreshing Peruvian street cocktails, and unique passion fruit-flavoured piscos.

As the national drink of Peru, it is also customary for families across Peru to infuse piscos with their own choice of fruits, herbs and botanicals. Through the COYA 1615 Macerado project, COYA aims to honour the talents and skills of Peru’s original pisco producers, and provide guests with a way of recreating the lively party vibes of the streets of Lima within the comfort of their own home.

To ensure authenticity, COYA’s Corporate Bar Manager, Sany Bacsi, and all the other bar managers from every COYA venue travelled to Peru to work on the infusion at the 1615 Pisco headquarters. This enlightening experience saw the COYA team pick ripe grapes for the pisco production process in the yearly vendimia harvest and participate in numerous tasting sessions to ensure that they thoroughly understood how to create a perfectly balanced macerado.

Each bottle of COYA 1615 Macerado is left to infuse for three weeks to allow the passion fruit flavour to truly develop. Only real, fresh and premium quality passion fruit pulp is used to guarantee full flavour in every drop. The passion fruit flavour of the bottled blend was also inspired by the brand’s discovery that passion fruit was the most popular cocktail flavour in all nine of COYA’s global branches, and in its seasonal venues.

COYA 1615 Macerado further cements COYA’s long history with experimenting with mercado distilling techniques. Since the opening of COYA’s flagship branch in Mayfair, London, in 2012, COYA has created more than 80 infusions across its nine global venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Paris, Mykonos and beyond.

Sany Bacsi, Corporate Bar Manager at COYA, said: “The bar team and I wanted to bring a whole new level of attention to the entire pisco category and the culture of Peru, and inspire every bar tender around the world to think creatively and discover the rich mixology culture of Peru. Pisco is a very versatile beverage to work with and today so many bars and restaurants offer pisco cocktails. We have created a unique product inspired by the traditional bar scene of Lima and, as far as we know, there is no other passion fruit flavoured bottled macerado infusion that is sold commercially on a global scale.”

Yannis Stanisiere, Global COO of the COYA Group, said: “Considering COYA’s rich Peruvian heritage, the team’s extensive knowledge of mixology, the popularity of passion fruit cocktails and our long-term relationship with 1615 Pisco, creating the world’s first bottled passion fruit-flavoured macerado seemed the perfect way of celebrating our ten-year anniversary. Made from 100 percent real fresh passionfruit, the explosive flavour pays tribute to Peru’s long and fascinating history in passionfruit production. Providing an exciting way for guests to recreate their favourite COYA beverages at home, and for mixologists across the world to embrace the magic of Peruvian culture, I am confident that the COYA 1615 Macerado will become the next big thing in the global alcohol and bartending industries.”

COYA 1615 Macerado makes a valuable addition to COYA’s world-renowned selection of cocktails, spirits and homemade infusions. It will soon be available to sample in every COYA branch across the globe, and to purchase from 1615 Pisco retailers.
