Who doesn’t love a good curry? The Brit-themed Indian curry house at the Shoreline Residences at the Palm Jumeirah exudes a relaxed vibe with a billiards table near the bar counter, white fences housing the outdoor seating and some funky, colourful green and orange couches as you step inside.

It wasn’t easy to find this restaurant, but once you are in there the forces in the restaurant are at work to help you unwind.

The prices aren’t steep and therefore you don’t have to break the bank for a night out at this restaurant. The service was warm and quick.

We were there for its launch recently and here are the top five dishes that you must try:

Crispy onion bhajis
It’s calorific, but it’s worth every bite. Mildly-spiced, the onion bhaji served in this restaurant is pure gold. The onion slivers dipped in the right amount of batter ensured that it wasn’t soggy. Coming a close second in the starters is the spinach crisps, which made you feel relatively healthy while eating it. Wash it down with a berry mocktail, and you are good to go.

Vegetable samosa
As far as starters go, this dish never fails. The ones served here hit the right notes. The crispy triangular pastry filled with spicy potatoes (eaten with tamarind chutney) weren’t gigantic and that ensured that we had space to try other starters.

Aloo channa chaat
If you are in the mood to eat something with a hint of chaat masala, then this should be on your list. The salad tossed with potatoes, white chickpeas and smattered with fresh pomegranate seeds served in a copper bowl hit all the right notes.

Chicken tikka masala
It’s curry-house staple and the one served here ticked all the boxes. The TKM was creamy and the cubes of chicken were perfectly cooked, but if you like a bit of heat then you are tapping the wrong dish. It leans more sweet than spicy, but that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying the lush red curry. Combine it with naan (flat bread) and it’s comfort food in a bowl.

The Madras chicken curry
We had asked them to spike up the spice levels since we are Indian natives and they gracefully agreed. The brown coriander powder-based paste tempered with curry leaves packed a punch. If you like a curry with strong spicy flavours, then Madras chicken curry must be your go-to dish here. It’s best combined with rice.
