Explosions Of Colour And Flavor As Kinara By Vikas Khanna Celebrates Holi

Kinara by Vikas Khanna celebrates the Holi Festival with a magnificent menu of traditional and modern Holi dishes available throughout lunch and dinner, on the 9th and 10th March.

Described as a ‘journey of the senses and an explosion of flavour’, guests will have the opportunity to try a vibrant set menu for just 220AED per person. Beginning with a Thandai of almond, fennel seeds and saffron, appetites will be whetted before diving in to a starter of Amritsari Macchi– Vikas Khanna’s take on fish fingers with mint chutney and pickled pink raddish or go for the much loved Murgh Boti Kebab-chicken morsels with pearl onion and green mango chutney. Vegetarians will have delectable options too with a Pyaz Kachouri of spiced onion, roasted garlic, chili chutney or Dahi Vada – his signature lentil dumplings with yogurt and tamarind glaze.

Main courses are a nod to the timeless traditions of Holi, with vegetarian feasts such as Paneer Khurchan-cottage cheese with bell pepper and roasted tomatoes and a Kurkuri Bhindi-a crisp okra with green mangoes. Alternatively, you can choose Murgh Ka Salan -chicken stew and potato crisps and Bhuna Gosht– lamb with caramelized onion and tomato salsa. All dishes are accompanied with generous sides of kadhi pakodi, steamed ricee, puran poli and the famous Kinara roti. Desserts include the sublime Gujjia, a milk and coconut creation and Kesari Malpua pancakes with saffron and homemade ice-cream. The special set menu is designed to make the table canvas colorful with the art of culinary craftsmanship as the true essence of Holi lies in relishing traditional delicacies and playing with colors. The à la carte menu will also be served for those who wish to sample some of Vikas Khanna’s iconic dishes.

Kinara, meaning the shore or the bank, is the name given to JA Lake View Hotel’s new stylish yet casual signature restaurant. The 180-seat outlet introduces a lively, modern exploration of traditional Indian cuisine. Described as an affordable and approachable homage to regional Indian kitchens, the new eatery was inspired by the raw beauty of home cooking, from the richly diverse regions of India and South Asia. Featuring authentic regional dishes with a modern twist, the menu highlights classic dishes, with a strong focus on the subtle smoky flavours of the Tandoori oven and the variety of spices for which India is renowned.

Lead by Vikas Khanna’s protégé in Dubai, Chef de Cuisine Ashish Kumar, the restaurant design also offers a journey of the senses from the moment of arrival. Elegant oversized spice displays adorn the entrance creating enticing aromas, as guests move throughout the space. The spice market experience provides guests with the opportunity to learn about the different culinary functions and health benefits of each ingredient used. Views into the kitchen further entice guest’s senses, creating a visual connection between the menu and its preparation, culminating in a beautiful open kitchen. A magnificent outdoor terrace offers al fresco dining and vistas across the lake and lush golf course. Creating a fluent journey, guests of Kinara by Vikas Khanna can simultaneously interact and connect with Indian cuisine and culture during their experience.
