LPM Restaurant & Bar Announces Its Price Drop Following Dubai’s Removal Of Its 30% Alcohol Tax

The home of French Mediterranean cuisine, LPM Restaurant & Bar reveals its beverages will see a drop in prices by the end of January. Following the Dubai government’s announcement to remove its 30% alcohol tax for the new year, the global F&B company shares that its Dubai restaurant is adjusting its prices accordingly.

Ever since the announcement made in early January, LPM Restaurant & Bar Dubai has been adjusting its prices according to the new 30% tax removal, with most drinks receiving a reduction by January 23rd. The restaurant’s champagne bottles, wine by the glass, entry level bottles of wine, and cocktails have seen a 10-15% reduction in selling price, cocktails now begin from AED 49, the entry range for a glass of wine is AED 44, champagne glasses start at AED 105, and a bottle of wine begins at AED 220 rather than AED 260. Nicolas Budzynski, Global Operations Director at LPM Restaurant & Bar clarifies, “this initiative is not a 30% cost reduction for operators, but the removal of 30% tax on landing costs in Dubai. This represents an actual cost reduction of 23% to operators. Now, should operators decide to maintain their margins in cash value, which seems pretty logical, it would only represent a 5% drop on selling price. This may have been misunderstood when the announcement was made, but it is critical to explain so consumers do not have the wrong expectations.”

LPM Restaurant & Bar decided to embrace this initiative to make some positive changes for its consumers, especially since it can have a positive impact on the company and the F&B industry. The LPM team believes that operators should be open to take more risks on selection and creativity, and hope to be able to import special products in order to broaden their competition in terms of price and unique offerings for guests. Budzynski shared, “Being guests ourselves when dining-out, we would be very happy to see more accessible prices in Dubai in general, this in line with other international markets. We’ve always looked to provide the best products at the most accessible price for our guests, and this is one of the reasons LPM has been so consistent and loved for the last 12 years. This is why we decided to go for it and take quick actions. With an overall price reduction, guests will be able to go for an extra glass or bottle, and everyone will benefit from it.”

While the F&B industry, and the UAE at large, has been affected by the increase of inflation, logistics costs, labour costs, and more, LPM Restaurant & Bar maintains its dedication to offer guests their best service. Dubai’s removal of its alcohol tax presents new opportunities for businesses and guests, and LPM is taking this opportunity head on.
