Twiggy By La Cantine

From the team behind some of Dubai’s coolest (and Time Out Dubai award-winning) restaurants La Cantine du FaubourgNinive and Lana Lusa, expectations are high when visiting the group’s newest hotspot on the Creek side of the city.

Bringing a slice of the French Riviera to old Dubai, Twiggy by La Cantine sits on the edge of The Lagoon at Park Hyatt Dubai and the vibe is south of France chic-meets-Mediterranean cool.

Inspired by English model, actress, singer, and all-round ’60s cultural icon Twiggy, the space is decked out in crisp whites, soft creams, and on-trend boho décor (even the loos are Insta-worthy – seriously, the photo opportunities are endless) and with gorgeous views looking out on to the Creek, the setting is seriously special.

The Mediterranean-inspired menu is just the ticket for a special night out and there are no extreme fancy flourishes: this is smartly presented food with all-star ingredients doing the talking – and the stunning scene is only enhanced by the plates coming out of the kitchen.

Start the meal off with creamy burrata to share. Prettily presented with cherry tomatoes, pomegranate jewels and croutons, it’s a generous portion (we’re talking 300g) and on par with the city’s best (and you know how Dubai loves a bit of burrata). Next up go for the sliced yellowfin tuna with sesame and a sweet, tangy onion vinaigrette. It’s a crowd-pleaser of a dish with the delicate flavours of the tuna complemented by the nuttiness of the sesame.

For mains, try the roasted pumpkin and burrata en papillote with Portobello mushrooms and a lick of chimichurri that comes steaming hot with the burrata oozing over the vegetables. Alternatively, a perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned Black Angus rib-eye is another winning plate. Sides are equally impressive (making broccoli tasty is no small feat) and the creative mixed drinks are also fantastic.

And do not – do not – leave without ending the meal with an order of pineapple carpaccio. Easily one of the best desserts in town, while also happening to be one of the lightest and most creative.

Take our advice and try to book around sunset – watching the colours of the city change as the sun sets and with the Burj Khalifa twinkling away in the background is one of those truly special “I can’t believe I live here” Dubai moments.

Superb food, delicious drinks, and an incredible setting – Twiggy by La Cantine, is about to become a favourite that sticks.
