Brand-new dining concept, Lola Taberna Española, located at TRYP by Wyndham, Al Barsha, recently launched and welcomed its first guests yesterday,21st December 2020.
Lola will transport patrons to the lively streets of Andalusia in southern Spain, the home of Lola Flores, flamenco icon and inspiration behind the venue, taking them on a culinary journey across the Iberic peninsula. From the world-renowned paella originating from Valencia, the crumbly Manchego cheese from the county’s central region, to patatas bravas from Madrid, Lola’s menu pays homage to the greatest dishes and produce Spain has to offer.
Lola is set to become a pillar of the city’s restaurant scene, a place where Spanish nationals can have a taste of home, a local to the bustling Dubai community craving ‘gambas al pilpil’ with a sangria, but more so, a vibrant social hub where everyone is welcome to sample Spanish delicacies and have a good time.
The taberna will offer the finest and largest selection of Spanish charcuterie in Dubai and will be the first restaurant to serve cañas. These 20 cl hops are historically popular across Spain as the smaller measure ensures drinks stay cooler for longer, making them the perfect pairing for Lola’s prosperous selection of tapas and perfectly suited to local climes. Should patrons wish to indulge is something special, the arroz caldoso de bogavante, made with perfectly cooked lobster and accompanied by ‘juicy’ rice, is an authentic dish not to be missed.
With food cooked from the heart and music sang from the soul, Lola emulates long Spanish family lunches that unfurl into dinners. As the sun sets and evening flows into night, the atmosphere at Lola’s slowly evolves. Guests will enjoy the gradual transformation of the modern dining taberna into an exciting and lively hangout that will keep them thoroughly entertained, until closing time.
The taberna has put meticulous attention to the food and drinks as it has in the design of the space. Lola is dotted with a mix of low and high tables, hanging Iberico charcuterie, grape on display, a mix of wooden and Mediterranean tile floors in addition to elegant red banquettes. A beautifully designed terrace, the perfect setting to enjoy a tasty meal al fresco, completes the picture.
Overseeing Lola is the Spanish duo, Lloy Rubio, and Chef Daniel Delgado. With more than twenty-five years combined experience managing bars and restaurants, Lloy will expertly run both the front and back of house at Lola, whilst Chef Daniel Delgado, creator of the exciting menu, will be in charge of the kitchen.
Lloy Rubio comments: ‘The opportunity to open an authentic Spanish taberna that resonates with guests of all ages is hugely exciting. Lola’s DNA, the chef, the team, menu and the music are all authentically Iberic. At Lola we wish to celebrate the very best of our culture and share our passion for great food in a fun, vibrant environment.
Chef Daniel Delgado adds; “We look forward to welcoming fellow Spaniards, tourists and the wider Dubai community alike. Our aim is to become a local hangout for guests, renowned for its fantastic Spanish food, flavoursome drinks, and amazing atmosphere.”
